Points

Student Council requires members to earn 8 points per semester to be eligible for outstanding leadership awards and senior graduation cords. For an explanation of our point system, see below. Log and check those points here. If there is ever a discrepancy with your points, send us an email or come talk to us in room 330.

FYI!!!! We have an issue with our points system YOU need to be aware of! There is an issue where our database will not let us log more than one point at a time per point entry. We are trying to fix this. In the mean time, you will have to log every single point by hand. For some events, like JDRF which will be 4 or 5 points, we understand it may be a pain. In reality, it should only take an extra minute or two. We apologize for this inconvenience. Thanks!

Point System

Underclassmen

In order to retain membership in Student Council, you must be an active member by earning points. If you are an underclassman and want to be eligible for the end of sophomore-year underclassmen Outstanding Leadership award, you must meet the 8 point requirement for all four semesters of your underclassman career. If you fail to meet the 8 point requirement but earn 5,6, or, 7 points on any given semester you will still be considered an active member and will be able to retain membership, though you will not be elgible for the award.

Upperclassmen

In order to retain membership in Student Council, you must be an active member by earning points. If you are an upperclassman and want to be eligible for a graduation cord, you must meet the 8 point requirement for all four semesters of your upperclassman career. If you fail to meet the 8 point requirement but earn 5,6, or, 7 points on any given semester you will still be considered an active member and will be able to retain membership, though you will not be elgible for the graduation cord.

Probation

Probation is implemented once a year as a way to make sure members stay active and involved in the organization. Midway through each year, if anyone has earned 4 or less points in the fall semester, you will be put on probation starting in the spring. To get off probation, you must earn at least FOUR out of the EIGHT points for the spring semester to remove yourself from the list. After earning these FOUR points you will be taken off the probation list and listed as a general council member, allowing you to continue with your activities and earn points (your 4 points will be kept) for the current semester. Failure to do so will invalidate your current general council membership for the year and prevent you from earning any awards pertaining to general council. You will still be able to reapply for membership the following year.
